Research shows that reading books have significant affect on our life. Let’s see some of the benefits of reading books. Reading is good for you because it improves your focus, memory, empathy and reduces stress. Improves your mental health and helps you live longer. Reading also allows you to learn new things to help you succeed in your work and relationships
Books play a quite essential role in everyone’s life by introducing us to a world of imagination, providing knowledge of the outside world, it also improves writing and speaking skills as well as boosting memory and intelligence.

Reading books build up your brain. It works out all of those important muscles that are needed to help you be at your best mentally. Keeping your mind active.      Research showed that reading has been shown to put our brains into a state similar to meditation and it brings the same health benefits of deep relaxation and inner calm. Regular readers sleep better, have lower stress levels higher self -esteem and a lower rate of depression than nonreaders.

MAY EVEN HELP YOU LIVE LONGER:

     A case study was conducted on Retired persons (age >60 years), the study followed a cohort of 3635 adult participants for  12 years finding that those who read books survived around 2 years longer than those who either did not read or who read magazines and other media.

The study also concluded that people who read more than 3 and half hours every week were 23 percent likely to live longer than those who did not read at all.

         


         Make a habit of reading books before sleep books prepare you for a good night's rest. Doctors suggest reading as part of sleep routine for best results you may want to choose a print book rather than reading on a screen since the light emitted by your device could keep you awake and lead to other unwanted health outcomes.

       Reading gives you a lot to think about, hence you will continuously have your mind explore different issues and stories, having a good imagination and quality vocabulary gives you an upper hand when constructing simple and complex sentences suited for different occasions like interviews and simple conversation. I read somewhere that, "never trust someone who has a bigger tv set than a bookshelf".
We are the sum total of the books we have read,people we have met and the situations we are put into.

And I believe,the greatest invention of all time was and still is printing press.

Insightful article. It would be great if reference can be provided to the study that was conducted on increase in lifespan of a person who reads. Providing reference wherever required improves overall quality of the article.
