Since the Covid pandemic has begun, It has always been haunting humans in the way it presents newly. Recently the double mutant has created a lot of mortalities and now there is ongoing havoc that says the delta variant will cause more mortality.

  1. SO WHAT IS THIS DELTA PLUS NOW?

Coronavirus is busy taking on mutations. The first wave in India was due to the novel coronavirus.

The second wave was due to Delta double mutant which microbiologists call mutations in B.1.617 lineage resulting in a new variant. 


further modification in B.1.617 lineage created a Delta plus variant, it is a mutation in the Binding Protein of the virus. This has made the virus bind more tightly to the human cells. L

Previously this kind of mutation was seen in South African and Brazil Variant but this Delta Plus is a mixture of both these, hence called Triple mutant.

 

  • WILL IT BE MORE DANGEROUS THAN THE PREVIOUS WAVE?


No, According to the latest data until early June, though it has more binding capability to human cells, no deaths were reported. 

       

  • WILL IT CAUSE THE 3RD WAVE?
Well, it is very early to say whether it causes further waves.


 Let’s hope it does remain havoc rather than becoming a reality.

       

  • ARE VACCINES EFFECTIVE AGAINST DELTA PLUS?



To most of the extent, yes they are effective.

Vaccinated individuals do acquire infection but it is less severe in them.
